Green Bucket List Vlieland

Would you also like to travel more sustainably? But still experience the ultimate vacation feeling and also contribute? We went out ourselves and this is what a sustainable weekend on the Wadden looks like! We can already tell you...it is definitely recommended!

1) The journey begins at sea

As they say. A good start is half the battle! And that is certainly absolutely true. Because there is no better start to the vacation than a lovely quiet boat ride with a great view of the sea. Wind through your hair, in the distance you see seals taking their afternoon nap on one of the sandbanks and seagulls complete that last bit of perfection with their curious dances above the deck. You don't have to do anything for a while, just enjoy.

2) Culinary delight at Leut

Upon arrival, we indulged ourselves at Koffiebar Leut. Here you can go for cakes and lunch. Homemade and with local products. Still looking for a place to sleep? This is also the right place to be.

5) Dive into the mud

Have you ever discovered the Wadden Sea? Wad walking is definitely a must do. On the way you will encounter all kinds of things, you will enjoy a beautiful view and at the Wadden excursion on Vlieland you will be taken out by an island guide. This way you get to know the Wadden in one day. #greendo

Yes, I'm putting it on my green Bucket List

6) Yoga on the beach

End your last day with an unforgettable yoga class on the beach. You can take Vinyasa Flow, Hatha and Yin yoga classes at Vlieland Yoga.

Join in, Redeem the Sea | They have provided jute containers so that together we can keep the beach clean. There is also a 'Join us, Save the Sea bag' designed by Sabine Mesli of Dinges to enjoy jute. And if you want to throw away your jute gear, pay special attention to the beautiful creative works of art (made of plastic caps) by Cily Bakker-Dijkstra. The jute containers were donated by Rivella and made by Karel Nouta of Zilt Getint.

Paal 50 | In cooperation with LAB-Vlieland and broad school De Jutter are engaged in a project in which beach waste is transformed into art. The children go beachcombing, clean the found plastic and grind it into input suitable for the 3D printer. How cool!

Vlieland Outdoor Center | Has been completely sustainable for several years. There are 20 solar panels on the roof that feed gel batteries that power all supplies. Orfeus van der Veer is also a member of 'My Beach', after activities he and his team make sure the beach is left clean and pristine.

Harry's Beach Essentials | The electric ice cream trucks with solar support, sustainable solar beach showers and also an electric beach wheelchair.

Beach pavilion 't Badhuys | Has no less than 141 solar panels on the roof and the toilets are flushed with rainwater, which is collected in a well in the dunes.

Beach pavilion Oost | Is completely self-sufficient! Wow! And has reused materials that have been given new life.

Firma Tot | They clean the beach on Vlieland on behalf of the Municipality of Vlieland, beach pavilion 't Badhuys, camping site Stortemelk and Stichting Aanloophaven Vlieland.

There are also many private initiatives to make beachcombing fun and encourage it. Hereby also a compliment to the 'beach guest' who does his bit on Vlieland.

Keeping the beach clean is something we all do together!
