The Groningen coast is the landscape of streams meandering through vast farmland. Immortalised by the artists from De Ploeg. Here and there an unexpected rise in the landscape bears witness to the presence of a now vanished sea. The old dikes are remnants of where the Wadden Sea once began. It's also the land of the stately manors of the grain barons and of the forts that were expanded throughout the centuries to become some of the most picturesque estates with their equally breathtaking parks. A landscape worth exploring.
Bird watching hut The Kiekkaaste in Nieuwe Statenzijl is the only bird watching hut in the Netherlands that is located outside the dikes.
