With 5 million m² of sand 200 hectares of new nature are being created for the former Prins Hendrikdijk. Its dunes, marshes and lagoon make it a favourite spot for wading birds to choose from an abundance of food.

The new Prins Hendrikzanddijk is a fantastic example of building with nature, also known as eco-engineering. No more battling against the sea but instead working in harmony with nature for a safe existence. And it’s on display for all to see. There will be a bicycle and walking path as well as an outlook post with a view of the new bird area.
