Darkness is just as beneficial to man and beast as daylight. The stars are our nocturnal compass. Real darkness is becoming ever more scarce.
In the official Dark Sky Parks you can experience intense darkness in various ways and the night is actively protected.
Lauwersmeer lake is one of the Dark Sky Parks of the Wadden area. Come and sail the black waters in the darkness of night. Take a ride along the darkest bicycle path of the Netherlands. Join the forest ranger for a nocturnal excursion. Be amazed - if you’re lucky - at the Northern lights or just simply close your eyes. You’ve never slept this well.
