This bikeride starts at the Eastern part of Vlieland, the only village on the island. At the rustic street in the villagecentre is a calm atmospere. Outside the village is a wide range of bicycle paths. These paths,
covered with shells, give you the oppurtunity to cruise the island, also the forest part at the Eastern side is accesable througt these paths. During your ride, you can explore all views and sights of the dunes and forests.
Most common vegetation are the Austrian and Corsian pinetrees. In earlier days were Sitkas pine- and Alder treest the normal vegetation at these wetlands.

Please also note the variaty of trees like oak, birch, maple and already mentioned alder trees. Outside the woods, the bike paths lead you most of the time along the dunes. Height differeces are normal, so beware of some extra effort to reach the beuatiful views on top. Their you have a great view at the dunevalleys, woods and both sea's; the unique nature of this Island. On your way to the Old Kooi and New Kooi don't forgot to watch the wide rang of birds that still visit this place, although it is not in use as a duckshelter anymore. Halfway your will see the Posthuys. This house is named because the mail that was posted travelled through Texel to Amsterdam and vice versa.
