De Geul is part of the Duinen van Texel National Park. From the look out point you have a beautiful view of De Geulplas. Every year around February this bird-rich lake is the breeding ground of spoonbills. There are special plant species in De Geul because it is becoming an increasingly more wet area. Lunar ferns, smooth piglet herb and also many sea buckthorns. The berries of the sea buckthorn are often eaten by migratory birds. In addition to birds, there are also Scottish highlanders and Exmoor ponies in the area. These keep the fast growing plants short so that the slower growers also get a chance. Tip! Take your binoculars with you.
