City campsite Taniaburg in Leeuwarden
(Since 1996) Camping, apartments, hiker's cabin, guest room.
The farm 'Taniaburg' and now also the campsite is located on historic land. Halfway through the 16th century there was already talk of the 'Taniaburg estate' with an accompanying head-neck-body farmhouse. In 1839, this farm had to make way for the current head-neck-body farm.
Around 1990, the Municipality of Leeuwarden decided to develop the area around 'Taniaburg' into a nature reserve. The meadows have had to make way for the approximately 100 hectares of forest with beautiful water features.
The campsite is therefore uniquely located approximately 100 meters north of Leeuwarden in the midst of water and nature.
It has been in our ownership since 1995, bought from the Municipality of Leeuwarden, with the idea of turning it into a campsite. The farm was in a very dilapidated state. It took 2 years to make it liveable. Later there was time for the camping, which started in 1998.
Camping Taniaburg once grew into a versatile company with many options for overnight stays. The campsite consists of 17 caravan pitches, 11 motorhome pitches, a hiker's field for the tents, a hiker's cabin, and a 2- and 5-person apartment. There is also the possibility to stay overnight in our B&B
Camping Taniaburg is listed in the Capitool Travel Guide as one of "the most beautiful campsites in the Netherlands".
